WHAT IS COUNSELLING?
Counselling provides a confidential, safe and supportive environment. In addition it is respectful, empowering, challenging, life changing and healing.
Counselling can help you make sense of your feelings and emotions. To help you make changes in your life or come to terms with things that can’t be changed. It can help you to focus on issues and clarify them.
WHY COME FOR THERAPY?
People access therapy for many different reasons including:
Anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, carer responsibilities, self-harm, panic, unwanted thoughts, family and relationship problems, divorce/separation, trauma, bereavement, past issues, childhood abuse, addiction, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, confidence issues….and many more.
However, some people don’t always recognise why they are feeling the way they do and sometimes just feel overwhelmed and struggling. Counselling can help you to recognise what is happening for you and help you to understand yourself and life more clearly.
Person-centred counselling is non-directive and set at your pace. I trust you to know what may be hurting or areas you wish to focus on. Together we will review our work and progress and plan for an appropriate ending.
HOW OFTEN ARE SESSIONS & HOW LONG DO THEY LAST?
Sessions would usually take place weekly and last for approximately 50 minutes.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
The number of sessions depends entirely on each individual and the issues you are bringing to counselling. Some people come for just a few sessions and feel ready to end whilst others may come for several months or so.
